Study on the Evolution of Magnolia Tune
Abstract: Ci is the combination of music and lyrics. The music part is the tunes of Ci, which is called CiPai ( the names of tunes to which Ci poems are composed). With the development of Ci, the music part has changed, which is manifested in losing the function of singing gradually. However, the contracted text and phonological forms based on CiPai get fixed. Due to the changing of the music part, one CiPai may derived from different types of singing, which leads to different variants of CiPai. This paper makes an detailed research on the evolution of magnolia CiPai. The evolution started from magnolia tunes to CiPai, then evolved from magnolia CiPai to relevant CiPai, finally stopped evolving and get fixed completely. Through the research of the emergence and development of the magnolia CiPai, the author tease out the internal context of magnolia CiPai development, clarify and correct the predecessors’ ideas about the CiPai and deepen the research of the Ci and CiPai.
