Interpretation of the Awakening of Female Consciousness from Reading Pride and Prejudice
Abstract:Pride and Prejudice is the master piece of Jane Austen who is the British women novelist of the nineteenth Century.The work successfully shapes a new image of a woman who pursues freedom,equality and independent personality - Elizabeth,and reveals a fact that women are not only in low statue but also lack of independent consciousness.At last,these women can do nothing but accept the miserable marriage. The author protests against The Patriarchal Center and encourage women to improve themselves and pursue a new life.According to the analysis,Pride and Prejudice expresses the consciousness and their wish that women are strongly eager for an equal marriage between men and women and the independent personality.The author puts forward a closely question to the patriarchal center and encourages women to perfect themselves and pursued a new life.
