Toyota Motor Corporation has recently developed a
new six-speed automatic transmission (A761E) for
Front Engine Rear Wheel Drive (FR) vehicles.
Following the general trend of increased shift stages
and a wider range of gear ratios, this six-speed
automatic transmission has been developed with
attention paid to the gear steps and a wider range of
gear ratios. By balanced selection of close-ratio gears
in a wider range, the change greatly improves the
power performance and fuel economy of the vehicle.
To further improve fuel economy we have adopted new
technologies such as low-viscosity ATF, neutral control,
and deceleration control by extending the fuel cut
range (reset speed). We have also adopted a毕业论文http://www.youerw.com/
flat-shaped torque converter, small solenoids, an
aluminum oil pump cover, etc. to realize the lightest
six-speed automatic transmission in the world. This
automatic transmission is low cost due to the adoption
of the same gear train as the previously developed
five-speed automatic transmission (A750E).

performance of this newly developed automatic

INTRODUCTION
At the start of the 21st century, vehicle manufacturers
have pursued growing environmental improvements
such as reduced CO2 emissions and increased fuel
economy. To satisfy these goals, vehicle manufacturers
have steadily developed fuel saving technologies such
as multi-speed and continuously variable
transmissions. With such a background, we have
developed the new six-speed automatic transmission
for FR vehicles. The new automatic transmission not
only satisfies social requirements by adopting new
fuel-saving technologies but also realizes excellent
drivability and quietness desirable in luxurious
passenger vehicles.
DEVELOPMENT OBJECTIVES
The development objectives of this automatic
transmission are as follows:
1. Improved power performance and fuel economy
2. Attain the world’s smallest size and lightest weight
3. Smooth shift feel with high response
4. Noise reduction
