Study of Chinese language convention in English-Chinese translation is an area that has rarely been visited by scholars. For one thing, the Chinese circle of translation study is pulled toward western theory while something concerning Chinese tradition is usually excluded from their field of study because of its unscientific nature. For another, Chinese language convention is elusive, tricky, hard to define with clear and exact terms, and for this reason it is often taken as classical Chinese(古文/文言文www.youerw.com). Indeed, Chinese language convention understood in the sense of classical Chinese will make no sense. As we know, pure classical Chinese is not a good match for Chinese in translation and cannot serve as a tool to deliver English. Furthermore, in our time no one wishes to read something delivered by this category of Chinese. Therefore in our study, Chinese language convention is to be taken as the language characteristic of Chinese used in the previous ages and is still appealing to the senses of
