2。4 Oil scraping of piston top land edge
The top land clearance of the piston is rather low under the engine working conditions。 Deposition on the top land and lateral motion due to piston secondary movement cause some contact with the liner wall。 At each upward stroke, the piston top edge scrapes along the liner wall and pushes oil against the top deck。 This loss is calculated according to the geometric configurations defined by the overlapping area
of the piston top land edge and the oil film, as shown in
Fig。 5。
3 Simulation Study
In this paper, simulating calculation is conducted with the sample of an inline six-cylinder diesel engine, and the type of the oil is SAE15W-40。 The main technical parameters of the diesel engine are shown in Table 1。 The oil consumption refers to the single-cylinder oil consumption rather than the total six-cylinder oil consumption in the following sections。 Three-piston-ring structure is used in this diesel engine, in which the top ring is a barrel ring with the middle bump deflected under the surface。 The second ring is a cone ring with inscribed reversed twist character。 The oil ring is a single body ring with a double scraper blade for scraping oil and a coil supporting spring。 In the calculation, the thermal deformation of the piston profile and the cylinder liner profile is considered to better represent the actual working conditions。
