第一部分主要讨论了视觉显著性的背景目的意义，介绍人类视觉系统的基本概念和基本原理，同时介绍几种模型如SR,SCSP等等。回顾了认知心理学的相关理论，讨论了视觉显著性和图像内容之间的对应关系。
第二部分集中研究了面向图像数据的视觉显著性检测的几种算法，并进行对比试验来比较各个算法之间的优点缺点和检测区分度。同时介绍演示软件MATLAB gui来直观展示各个算法的运行结果。
