Abstract Lord of the Flies is the first and greatest work of William Golding, which leaves him an important position in the history of English Literary. William Golding puts characters in Lord of the Flies in an isolated environment far away from the civilized society to reveal human nature. He depicts a tragic scene that a group of children expose their wild natures in a deserted and self-control world. This thesis aims at highlighting the process of human nature which gets alienated from slightly to distinctly through the description of those boys that they are in a harmony relationship in the first place but then contradictions exist gradually and finally they carry out violent and bloody activities. At last, this thesis will analyze the reason why the alienation takes place with the aim of author and the background information, which is that every kind of regulations in the modern and civilized society does a great job in suppressing the evil in their human nature. 43709

《蝇王》给我们的启示是:人应该正确的了解自己,只有这样消除对自身本性的无知;只有认识到自己有恶,并自觉使恶得到控制,做出善事,这样人类才有可能完善自己。

INTRODUCTION
William Golding was an English novelist who won the Nobel Prize for Literature for his parables of the human condition in 1983. He attracted a cult of followers, especially among the youth of the post-World War II generation.
Educated at Marlborough Grammar School, where his father taught, and at Brasenose College, Oxford, Golding graduated in 1935. After working in a settlement house and in small theatre companies, he became a schoolmaster at Bishop Wordsworth’s School, Salisbury. He joined the Royal Navy in 1940, took part in the action that saw the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck, and commanded a rocket-launching craft during the invasion of France in 1944. After the war he resumed teaching at Bishop Wordsworth's until 1961.
