People in 12 districts have followed and been in fear of the Hunger Game for 73 years, but no one could resist the ruler。 However, on the day of selecting the two tributes of the 74th Hunger Game in District 12, our protagonist, Katniss Everdeen appears。 She is a 16-year-old girl who volunteers to go instead of her younger sister as the female tribute from the poorest and the coal mining district。 And the boy tribute is Peeta Mellmark, who later becomes Katniss’s lover。 With the help of their tutor Haymitch, the previous winner of Hunger Game, Katniss and Peeta eventually defeat other tributes and before they chose to die together rather than kill each other, the game maker yields to declare that both of them can live and become victors。 But Present Snow regards their suicide behavior as a denial and resistance to his empery。 While the 75th Hunger Game known as the Quarter Qwell comes, in which this year’s tributes are selected from previous winners。 Katniss and Peeta are chosen again。 Finally, Katniss and some other tributes are rescued by the forces form District 13 which is said to be wrecked but actually hides itself underground and has been always plotting to overthrow the archon of Capitol under the leadership of Present Coin, however, Peeta and the others are unfortunately captured by Capitol。 At the same time, a revolution is underway and Katniss’s hometown is destroyed while her families survive。 In order to overthrow tyranny, regain freedom and rescue Peeta, Katniss choses to fight。 Katniss decides to kill Present Snow herself, while Present Coin, who in fact is another dictator, plans to kill Katiniss because Katniss is a threat for her ruling now。 When Katniss arrives at Present’s mansion, her younger sister Prim is boomed to die because of Present Coin’s order。 In the end of the story , Snow dies inexplicably in chaos, Coin exposes her real face and is overthrown, and the Commander Payler from District 8 becomes the new president of Panem。 Katniss and Peeta get marriaed and have their own children。

     With the development of society, women have contributed more and more to society, and their status and rights in society have gradually increased。 The Hunger Games reflects new values and highlights the improtance of women in the revolution with a strong spirit of the times, which easily get the attention and love of young readers, and its portrayal of civilian female hero has rich cultural connotations and academic research values。 Different  from the previous studies of Katniss, this thesis intends to discuss from a unique perspective--来自优I尔Q论T文D网WWw.YoueRw.com 加QQ7520~18766

anti-hero。 Through this study, one could know more about the traits of anti-hero, and have a border angle of view in understanding this female hero。 

2。 Literature Review

    Since this thesis is focused on the anti-hero image of Katiniss, it’s necessary to give a brief introduction to anti-hero and previous different perspectives of the movie series。

2。1 A brief introduction to anti-hero

     People always regard heroes as giant and prefect superman, who usually have noble blood lineage, steadfast pursuit, strong feelings and will, outstanding ability, and dedicate themselves to the noble cause, such as the heroes in Greek myths, the knights in middle ages, and even the Robin Hood and his men in the Green Woods who rob the rich to help the poor, etc (Wang 46)。 Heroes are the embodiment of human confidence, strength and morality。 Scholar Sean O’Faolain implies that “anti-hero goes back much farther, was twin born with the hero” (O’Faolain 203)。 However, there is no widely accepted definition for the term anti-hero。 Literary Dictionary defines anti-hero as “a central character in a dramatic or narrative work who lacks the qualities of nobility and magnanimity expected of traditional heroes and heroines in romances and epics”。 Ihab Hassan, one of the most authoritative and famous critics of postmodern literature, presents his own understanding of anti-hero: “In fiction, the ‘anti-hero’ refers to a ragged assembly of victim ” (Hassan 12)。 Hassan regards that anti-hero is someone who remains the qualities of a conventional hero in his soul, while at the same time is also merciless, cynical and ruthless。论文网 电影《饥饿游戏》三部曲中女主人公的反英雄形象分析(2):http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_201791.html
