Abstract With the widespread of television all over the world, talk show has recently become a new and popular form of entertainment and has achieved a wider concern in academic field nowadays.46372
This thesis takes the Grice's Cooperative Principle as its theoretical foundation and takes the two talk shows A Date with Luyu and Oprah Winfrey Show as its study material. It makes a comparison between the two talk shows and finds the pivotal role of CP during conversation. This thesis attempts to demonstrate how and why CP is violated in conversations. Firstly, a quantitative study is made based on the two chosen talk shows samples and then the author classifies them into four kinds according to which specific maxims they violate. The similarities and differences of the two talk shows on the distribution of the violation of CP are clarified. Then a qualitative study is made on these similarities and differences. Specific analysis and comparisons are made on the typical samples under the theoretical framework of CP, to reveal the significance of CP violation during conversation, so as to gain deeper understanding of both hosts and guests’ hidden meaning and improve viewers’ ability to appreciate talk shows, especially the art of using language.
Until now, though certain studies has been done on the analysis of talk show under the perspective of cooperative principle, few attention has been paid to making a contrastive analysis combined with Chinese and American talk shows, so this essay will investigate the language used in talk shows from a different angel.

摘要随着全球电视的普及，脱口秀成为了一种备受欢迎的娱乐新形式，其在文化学术界已经受到了广泛关注。
本文以格莱斯的合作原则为理论框架，以两部中美脱口秀《鲁豫有约》和《奥普拉脱口秀》为研究材料，进行对比研究，探究合作原则在进行对话交流中的关键作用。这篇文章致力于解释在对话中合作原则是如何以及为何被违反的。首先，基于所选的两部脱口秀的样本进行量化研究，按违反合作原则的四个准则进行分类，并得出两部脱口秀在违反原则分布上的相似性和差异性。随后，对这种相似性和差异性进行定性分析，运用准则违背的理论，分四类对样本中的案例进行具体分析，探究准则违背在对话交流中所起到的关键作用，从而更深层次的理解主持人和嘉宾的潜在意义，以便于提高观众赏析脱口秀的能力，尤其是语言使用的艺术。
前人对于合作原则下的脱口秀有了一定的研究，但很少的研究涉及到将中美的脱口秀联系在一起进行对比研究。因此该选题的角度较有新意，有利于观众更深的理解中美脱口秀的异同以及欣赏此类的节目。
