Analysis of Humanity in Lord of the Flies
Abstract William Golding, the Nobel Prize Winner, was obviously one of the great novelists after Word WarⅡ。 Lord of the Flies is his most remarkable novel。 Through telling a story of a group of young children stranded on an isolated island degraded into savagery from the original civilized, it reveals that evil roots in human nature and the ill nature of human beings will arise without the control of civilization and the rationality will be beaten by brutality。85109
This thesis focuses on the analysis of good and evil in Lord of the Flies。 It first analyzes the main characters from the perspective of good and evil, and exposits the development and change between good and evil。 And then it analyzes that good and evil reflect in objects。 Through the above analysis, the author of this thesis makes a conclusion that when the might of civilization and democracy is weak, it’s necessary for people to be conscious of self-examination and caution to the evilness, thus possible to find a way of salvation。

《蝇王》中的人性分析
摘 要 威廉•戈尔丁,是诺贝尔文学奖的获得者,也是二战后伟大的小说家之一。《蝇王》是其最具有代表性的作品。它通过讲述一群孩子滞留在荒岛由原来的文明人堕落为残忍无情人的故事揭示了人性恶的根本以及在没有文明的制约下恶性会不断增长,理智将被残暴击败的主题。
本文是关于《蝇王》中人性善与恶的分析,首先着重从善与恶的双重性这一视角分析小说中主人公的性格,其次从人性的变化这一角度阐述了善与恶在小说人物中的不断发展变化,之后分析小说中主要事物所代表的人性。通过对人性中善与恶主题的分析,揭示了随着文明和民主力量日渐薄弱,人类社会中邪恶的一面渐渐处于主导地位,希望人类能够认真反省自身人性中邪恶的一面,为所忽视的善的回归找到一条救赎之路。

William Gerald Golding(1911-1994), a famous English novelist and poet, was born on September 19, 1911, in Cornwall of England。 He lived in an intellectual family and developed an interest in writing。 He published his first poetry anthology including 29 poems in 1934。 After then, he worked as a director, actor, soldier and professor。 He was also a productive writer, who wrote many kinds of works such as novel, play, essay and criticism。 He joined in Imperial Literature Club in 1955 and got the D。 Literature Master of Oxford University in 1961。 From then on, he specialized in writing。 In 1983, he won a Nobel Prize in Literature。 In a word, he was regarded as the most important writer in the 20th century。
