In the beginning of the 21th century, the theory translation as adaptation and selection was proposed by prof。 Hu Gengshen。 Depending on the theory, he further coined the term “Eco-translatology”, based on many Chinese ancient philosophy。 It is about an ecological approach to study translation。 As a rising subject, Eco-translatology has arisen a heated debate and much interest both among academia and the public。 Although, nowadays, many studies on translation are still carried out from the perspective of culture, the Eco- translatology has begun to flourish for its many unique characteristics, especially in three dimensions—language, culture and communication, which has enriched our study on translation。 Considering that films are intended to be an entertaining way in life, the theory is conducive to subtitle translation, getting rid of cross-cultural barriers。 So, this thesis will analyze the subtitle translation of the film Me Before You from the angle of Eco-translatology to see how the subtitle translation has realized their adaption and selection in linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions。
