The debate over foreignization and domestication has been existing for thousands of years in both China and western countries. And it has been the very hot topic among literary translation all over the world. However, no agreement has been reached yet, for scholars still argue for one and against for the other. Professor Sun argued in his article that the foreignization will be the leading role of Chinese literary translation in the 21th century.(孙致礼，2002；1)Opposite to him, Caiping published his two article to illustrate that domestication should dominant in this field. However,the important thing is that they both come to a neutral conclusion. Said Professor Sun“when we use the method of foreignization, we should be clear about the limitation,and sense of propriety. But when we found that it is hard for us to reach the final goal,we need to use the strategy of domestication. These two strategies should be supplement to each other.” (孙致礼，2002；1) Caiping said“ In fact, domestication and foreignization are not two terms which stands for the opposite position,instead,they can reach mutual complement and be two useful strategies to make the target text better.After all, the argument sbetween them has never reached an end yet.

Gone with the wind was a famous book written by American author Margaret Mitchell,which was published in 1931. Fu Donghua translated it in the year of 1940, and his translation got great success. In his translation Piao, he adopted both foreignization and domestication. And still now, great attention was paid to and researches among this paper are still going on.

2. Literature review

Domestication and foreignization are two strategies in translation,both have advantages and disadvantages;we should combine them together to translate.

2.1 Definition of domestication and foreignization.

Domestication is TL-culturally oriented translation strategy in which a natural,fluent style is adopted in order to minimize the linguistic and cultural strangeness of the foreign text for target language readers; Foreignization is a SL-culturally oriented translation strategy in which the original forms and content,especially the original cultural features are kept in order to retain the foreignism.

Foreiniztaion is Source language culture oriented.It has some advantages. Firstly, it can keep the original taste of the source text. And secondly, it can introduce the exotic culture into the target language.The presentatives are Lu Xun,Dong Qiusi and Bian Zhilin and so on.
