Abstract Nowadays, English is one of the most widely used languages in the world。 It is playing a fundamental role in international communication and technology。 In 2001, the documents issued by China’s Ministry of Education pointed out: starting English Curriculum in elementary stage will lay the foundation to improve our overall national quality, and to cultivate talents with innovative ability and cross-cultural communication ability。72324

Since 2001, students have started learning English from primary school。 The cities and countries started English learning from the third grade in primary school, and some areas with qualified condition even brought it ahead to the first grade。 The latest English Curriculum standard for elementary education lays out some requirements on English teaching。 Among these, the most important is students’ interest and self-confidence。 However, the traditional English teaching methods make students lose their interests and scores。 The author studies the problems of the primary school English classrooms。 The author also researches the problems of the main three primary school English teaching methods。 At the end of this study, the author proposes recommendations to improve teaching effectiveness of primary school English classes。

The first part of this study discusses the significance of the thesis and describes the theoretical basis of the study and the research ideas。 The second part includes face-to-face interview, questionnaires and classroom observation in order to get first-hand materials and the necessary data。 The third part discusses many problems appeared in English classes。 At last, the author offers some approaches and recommendations to improve primary school English teaching。

摘要目前,英语作为世界上最广泛使用的语言之一,在国际舞台上发挥着重要的作用。在2001年,我国颁布的一项重要文件中确切指出:在基础教育阶段,也就是小学阶段,开设英语课程,能够为我国提高整体国民素质、培养创新能力和跨文化交流能力的人才奠定基础。

自2001年,学生从小学开始学习英语,全国的市、乡、县从三年级开设英语课程。我国新出台的课程标准也对小学英语教学提出了一系列的具体要求,其中最首要的是提高学生学习英语的兴趣和自信心。笔者通过研究小学英语课堂上存在的问题,以及主要三类小学英语教学法优缺点的基础上,针对如何提高小学英语的教学效果提出具体可行的建议和对策。

本研究分三个部分。第一部分阐述选题意义,分析现状以及存在的问题,介绍研究理论和研究思路。第二部分通过访谈法、问卷调查法、课堂观察法获得第一手资料,为本研究提供既真实又可信的数据。第三部分针对当今小学英语课堂中存在的教学问题进行探讨。最后对完善小学英语教学提出对策和建议。
