斗笠式刀库由刀库横移装置、分度选刀装置以及主轴上的刀具自动装卸机构组成。横移装置保证了刀库从起始位置运动到换刀点换刀;分度装置起到了刀序的转位分度作用。换刀装置的工作质量直接影响整台数控机床尤其是加工中心的质量水平。换刀装置的工作质量主要表现为换刀时间和故障发生率。在选定合理的刀库容量时,通常是以满足典型零件在一次安装中所需刀具数量来确定的。
