From another perspective, it is widely acknowledged that those who highly possess the capacity of self-control are more likely to abide by the social norms and regulations, which offer large possibility of curing social illness, providing life satisfaction and gaining successful achievement (Baumeister, 2012)。 Given the great importance in the field of education, self-control has been a hit to discuss and applied in practice throughout the research history。

2。1。2 The importance of self-control

Self-control plays an essential role in every person’s life, no matter who is a student or an adult,   which

escorts for our study, work and life。 Therefore we are more likely to control ourselves, overcome difficulties and firmly set personal goal, towards which we can distribute energy and perseverance (Baumeiser, Heattherton, & Tice, 1994)。 Moreover, self-control is a significant element of self-value achievement and the insurance rope for our life turning and leaping。 With strong self-control capacity, we rarely get lost by the road forward, be tempted by external substances as well as misled our judgment by other objects (Baumeister, 2012)。

Besides, we are more easily to achieve success by the means of enhancing self-control capacity,  which will help us to be sensible and calm when something unpredictable happens。 Self-control helps us get access to benign cycle and gain positive development of self-health。 We would be equipped with perfect charisma, enhancing personal affinity and getting consistent identity from others by strong self-control ability of ourselves。 Then, it will help you make more friends and confidants around us, contributing to widen the communicative scope。 Moreover, it is significant to learn others strength and good qualities (Rothbart, 2000)。

The self-control ability is of much importance in education。 It encourages us, enhances our learning efficiency, and helps us to conquer weakness and pessimistic attitudes in order to finish your own goal。 Except learning, self-control is more essential of daily like and work experience (Block, 1987)。 In a word, self-control influences every aspect of ourselves, without which we would be more difficult to gain success。

2。1。3 Self-control training

Since the capacity of self-control is the internal drive towards one’s future development, self-control training in education is gradually gaining more popularity。 Building up effective self-control rather than external control programs can make people, especially students better restrain their academic and social behaviors, which enables teachers to spend more time focusing on the teaching procedures as well。 There are four parts of self-control being the focus of self-control training in the former research of specialized scholars: self-recording, self-evaluation, self-decision and self-guidance (Rosenbaum & Drabman, 1979)。

The research from Rosenbaum and Drabman (1979) indicated that several steps can be used as self-control training to promote the learning efficiency in classroom。 Firstly, students should be taught to enter the process of observation, which may be approved by the future studies that accurate self-observation is possible to enhance self-control capacity。 Under this circumstance, students are supposed to match their self-observation with the external observation from teachers, or even parents at first, and then gradually the matching process should be faded。 When self-observation has been created, the contingencies of external administration for students’ ideal behavior should be introduced, the control of which can be transferred to students as well。 In the meanwhile, students are supposed to give themselves instruction and praise aiming to direct their performance。 For the time that students are reliable to control their academic and social performance, the contingencies control can be gradually put down。 These training procedures can greatly increase the possibility of maintaining self-control capacity even if training task is out of use。
