1 Introduction 1。1Research Background
Diasporas and immigrants, usually weak in culture and economy in the context of globalization, experience great difficulty in integration into the stronger society。 On the other hand, they are either unwilling or unable to go back to their motherlands。 Thus, they often get into the troublesome questioning “who am I” state, which influences their lives and understandings of personal statuses。 Now, searching for their cultural identity becomes a significant theme in ethnic minority literature and attracts much scholastic attention。论文网
1。2 Significance of the Study
The past research on The Kites Runner focuses on the destiny explanation of Hassan, the themes of the novel and the exploration of the kite meanings。 However, few researches focus on the national cultural identity of Amir。 The growth process of Amir is a process to consistently search for his cultural identity and affirm “who am i”。 Because of uncertainty of identity cultural, Amir took many measures in order to know “who am i”, for example, Hassan was framed up by Amir for stealing because Amir wanted to drive Hassan away to prove that he was father’s real son。 On the basis of “the other” theory, taking Amir as an example, the thesis explores the process of the disintegration and reconstruction of the national culture identity and presents the concrete identity crisis and its reasons, reaching the conclusion that “the other” nations can regain their national cultural identity with their own efforts and encourage “the other” nations to try their best to regain identity。

2。1 The Definition of the Cultural Identity
Cultural identity is the feeling of being a part of a certain group。 It is part of the self-conception and self-perception of the inpidual, which has relation with nationality, ethnicity, religion, social class, generation, or various social groups that have its own classical culture。 In this way, cultural identity is not only the feature of the inpidual but of the culturally same group of members (Moha, 2005)。 In contrast with Moha, Liu (2001) puts emphasis on the variability of Cultural identity。 She holds the opinion that cultural identity is to question “who am i”, “where do i come from” and “where will i go”。 It is relevant to the past, present and future of the national history, showing continuity and variability。 In the context of globalization, cultural conflicts cause the identity fragmentation and crisis of the cultural identity。 Therefore, it’s the top priority to search for the national cultural identity。 Only when the nations rewrite their own national cultural identity, can they establish their own cultural character and spirits, which will be the spiritual and collective unconscious centripetal forces。 According to Su (2009), the key problem of the cultural identity is the cultural values。 And it’s because of the great difference on the culture values that forms the various and characteristic cultural identity of Americans, Indians and French and other nations。 Different from Su Yong, Hall (1999) points out that cultural identity is dynamic, and it not only belongs to the future, but the past。 What’s more, it is not a certain thing, but includes the temporalization, region, history and culture。 Different cultural identity is formed based on the specific historical background, but they get through certain development changes like all historical things。 Su Yong and Hall analyze the reasons of cultural identity from the point of history and regions。 Douglas (2007) puts forward that the deep meanings of the national cultural identity are the values and national spirits behind the symbolic identity, which are the features to distinguish from other nations。
