Chapter One Introduction An earthquake measuring 8。1 magnitude hit Nepal fiercely in 2015, causing at least 8986 dead, 22303 injured as well as the wide affected area including China's Tibet, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan, showing significant devastation of natural power。 The huge destructive power of disasters, therefore, strongly stimulates people’s desire to attain disastrous information at the first time。 Disastrous news reporting can greatly help people to grasp the change of the environment, offering accurate instructions to guide the public。 Hence, doing a good job in reporting disastrous news is an inevitable duty for news workers。 To some extent, media have the initiative to decide things (i。e。, the way they report, the content of news), however, they are not independent and connect closely with the whole society。 How to report disastrous news not only reflects the value orientations, concept and the way of news media, but also presents politics, culture, ideology, thinking model pursued by the country。 88904
