I。 Introduction
1。1 Research Background
The field of language education is ever changing。 Today’s language classrooms are very different from the past。 The focus on language education in nowadays is no longer on grammar, memorization, and learning from rote, but rather using language and cultural knowledge as a means to communicate and connect to others around the globe。 Traditional notions of education are replacing by modern education, which is more effective to learn。来自优Y尔L论W文Q网wWw.YouERw.com 加QQ7520~18766
With the accelerated development of economic globalization, English plays avital role in communication and becomes an indispensable tool for communication in various aspects of society, economy and culture。 English is so widely used in our daily life that it necessary to take reasonable and effective teaching methods in primary school English teaching。 With the updated curriculum and advanced pedagogy, students should be given chances not only to contact with authentic English but also to use it。 In other words, multimedia creates a good learning environment for learners, in which they can listen, speak, read and write。 Compared with the traditional English teaching mode, multimedia abandons some boring contents in textbooks reasonably, creates a relatively vivid learning environment for pupils so that many English teacher in primary schools prefer multimedia as it can fully show the relaxed and pleasant features of English class in primary schools。 However, the drawback of multimedia could not be ignored。 This dissertation also analyses the problems occur in multimedia use in primary school for English teaching and explores appropriate countermeasures by using questionnaire survey。 With the hope of helping teachers to enhance their teaching quality and learners to improve their levels of English learning。
1。2 Research Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the multimedia use in primary schools present on students’ learning and perceptions of the instruction。 The usage of multimedia can not only cultivate students’ interest in learning process but also the communication ability。 However, the misuse of multimedia also bring some disadvantages for both educators and learners。 Thus, the research was to show the influence of multimedia use in primary schools。 Will this practice benefit both teachers and students or not。
Also, the motivations of multimedia use is to cultivate students' comprehensive ability by provide variety material which could not be found on textbooks。 For example, offer culture background knowledge for language learning; showing interesting videos and audios to present the background of new concept; presenting online pictures to assist learners get the essence of abstract concept etc。 Moreover, the ability of skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing will be improved for multimedia classroom is consist of sensory learning。 In that way students will tend to be all-round developed。 Compared to traditional way of style, using multimedia can benefit educators as well。 It helps teacher to transmit knowledge more effectively; saving time for lectures to present on project rather than using chopsticks anymore; stimulate the classroom activity。 Therefore, multimedia exerts an important role in learning process。
