1。3 Literature Review
Pride and Prejudice has been analyzed from several perspectives, such as conversational art, ironic utterance, dramatic features, marriage and so on。 For example, Zhao Xuemei(2013) analyzes the English gentleman in Pride and Prejudice。 Besides, Liu Wen(1997) focuses on the comic spirit in Pride and Prejudice; Zhao Hong(2009) analyzes the effect of ironic utterance in the novel; Xin Xianglan(2010) analyzes the writing style of the novel; the embodiment of female consciousness in the novel is studied(Huang Jing, 2002); Liu Min(2007) focus on the aesthetic value in Pride and Prejudice。
In addition, many scholars have studied Jane Austen’s views on marriage expressed in the novel。 For example, while analyzing Chinese and Western views on marriage from the perspective of female consciousness, Zhao Shuping(2010) points out that Jane believes that a marriage without love will not filled with happiness through Elizabeth’s rejection to Mr。 Collins’s marriage proposal。 Besides, Zhao (2010) thinks that Jane believes in the equality between men and women in marriage。 In addition, it is also pointed out that Jane Austen thinks that a satisfying marriage should be marrying someone with good personal quality rather than nice appearance。 Lydia chases after George Wickham for his appearance rather than his personal quality (Yan Tong, 2009)。
Various researches have been done on feminism。 For example, Ouyang Cancan (2008) studies the evolution of the conception about body in Feminism。 Besides, some people have studied Austen’s views on marriage from the perspective of feminism。 For example, Zhao Shuping(2010) chooses one of the content of feminism to analysis Jane Austen’s views on marriage, and she thinks that Jane Austen’ s belief on the equality between men and women in marriage has showed that Jane Austen’s views on marriage has improved a lot compared with the views on marriage prevailing during that time。
1。4 Significance of the Research
From the above, it is believed that various studies on Jane Austen’s Views on marriage have been conducted。 Besides, the embodiment of female consciousness in her views on marriage has also been widely studied and discussed。 However, few researches on the analysis of Jane Austen’s views on marriage from the perspective of feminism are done。 So this paper will help improve the research。 People not only can learn the basic information of feminism, such as its definition and development, but also can have a better understanding of Jane Austen’s views on marriage
