An increasing number of professors and scholars pay attention to the linguistic features and requirements of English film and TV translation from home and abroad。
A lot of experts have done numerous research on the linguistic features and requirements of English film and TV translation。 First, in the book Translation Goes to the Movie(published in March 1st 2011), the author called Michael Cronin puts forward unique insights and makes contributions to communication studies, translation studies and cultural studies by taking some types of films as examples such as silent films。 Second, in the book Translation and Globalization(published in July 2003), the author looks at the changing geography of translation practice and offers new ways of understanding the role of the translator in globalized societies and economies。 Drawing on examples and case studies from Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, the author argues that translation is central to debates about language and cultural identity, and shows why consideration of the role of the translation and translators is a necessary part of safeguarding and promoting linguistic and cultural persity。 Third, in the book Basic Film Translation and Research(came out in January 2013) , it analyzes the present situation of film translation theory and practice in China and major European and American countries, and expounds the particularity and basic principles of film and television translation。 The book discussed three most important types of film translation subtitle translation from the perspective of translation practice, subtitle translation, voice dubbing and film title translation, through a large number of examples and analysis to reveal the rules of film translation and clarify the doubts and problems in the practice of translation。
