Abstract English teaching in primary school has long overemphasized the explaining and imparting of grammar and vocabulary but neglects the development of students’ abilities of using language, resulting in the loss of students’ interest in learning English。 Situational teaching utilizes the well-designed situations to organize teaching, contributing to activating students’ interest and eventually helping cultivate their abilities of using language, which is consistent with the concept of new curriculum standards。 On the basis of constructivism theory, second acquisition theory and the summary of related researches of situational teaching and with the combination of current situation of primary school English teaching, this thesis focuses on exploring the strategies to make the best use of situational teaching。92806

摘要小学英语教学长期以来过分重视语法和词汇知识的讲解与传授,忽视学生语言运用能力的培养,也导致学生失去英语学习的兴趣。情境教学在精心创设的情境中展开教学,有助于激发学生的学习兴趣,并有利于学生在学习过程中发展综合语言运用能力,这与新课程标准的理念也是相一致的。本文以建构主义理论、二语习得理论等为理论依据,综述了情境教学的相关研究成果,在结合小学英语教学现状的基础上,着重探讨有效有益地应用情境教学的策略。

1。 Introduction

      21st century is the era in which science and technology develop rapidly, different countries and nations connect close with each other and also various cultures coexist, and it is significant for us to master English which is the most widely used language。 It is known that primary English teaching is an important stage in laying and enforcing the foundation in the process of English learning。 Meanwhile, childhood is not only at the primary stage of the development of human world outlook and value, but also at the important stage of the development of thinking ability and the formation of cognitive mode (McClothlin 12)。 Different educational contents and methods as well as different environments have a significant impact on the development and training of students。 And children in this stage have a great plasticity and this stage is the golden stage for students to learn English。 In accordance with the English curriculum standards, primary school English learning or teaching objectives are, firstly, through listening, speaking, reading and writing or other teaching activities, to stimulate and cultivate students’ interests in learning to form good learning habits。 Secondly, through learning, students can get some emotional knowledge about English and master some certain basic skills of language training, the initial use of English and the ability of communication。 Thirdly, it is expected to cultivate students’ abilities to establish a scientific world outlook, outlook on life, values。 At the same time, students can have an initial cross-cultural awareness through English learning。 However, the present teaching mode still over-emphasizes the transmission and explanation of knowledge about grammar and vocabulary and neglects to develop students’ ability to use language for real, which is contrary to the New English Curriculum。
