John Griffith London, the American realist writer, was born in an impoverished farmer’s family in San Francisco, which forced him to do manual labor。 He ever entered school, but later, he was forced to drop out to take part in the line of Alaska gold-diggers。 There is no doubt that his early life experience renders a lot of inspiration to his writing career。 And one of the representations is the release of The Call of the Wild。 The Call of the Wild also reflects the theme in the most of the Jack’s novel—survival, which conveys that the life always can achieve the significance and strength in the process of struggling for survival constantly (Liu 83)。 According to a survey conducted by the UNESCO, Jack London is the American writer who possesses the largest amount of works being translated into different language among all the European works including the former Soviet。 The Call of the Wild is on the first rank among his 50 works, which has been translated into more than 80 languages。
