    The Study on the Effect of the Vocabulary Teaching Based on the XueJiang Plan
    1. Introduction
     1.1 Background Information
        To improve the teaching methods and the quality of teaching, high schools of Xuzhou has adopted the XueJiang Plan, which aims to contribute Effective Input to Efficient Output. Compared to traditional class teaching, the XueJiang Plan is the new way of class teaching. It aims to develop students’ learning style of self-study through the cooperative learning and to contribute the effective input to the efficient output. In a word, it tends to transform the ways in learning and teaching and to ensure the student-centered learning which provides enough time and room for students to do the self-construction through the process of their self- study. Essentially, the Plan is a reform of the class teaching. That means to do the reform of the traditional class teaching, teacher-centered. Therefore, the main obstructions come from the teachers. The premier, Li Keqiang has put up the words, “the key to the reform is the action instead of too many words”, which leads the way of the teaching reform.
        In high schools, students are under great pressure from the entrance examinations to college. To get high scores, they are just lost themselves in the textbooks. Besides, their learning style is teaching-material-centered and passive. That means students receive the knowledge passively. For the teachers, they are good at Cramming Education. They talk too much with teaching materials in their hands. At the same time, students just copy the answers from the teachers and take notes passively. In fact, class is the show only for the teachers themselves. The traditional teaching mode gets rid of the students’ curiosity and initiative to learn, to explore, and to think. As a result, they cannot achieve the effective input and efficient output.
    At present, the XueJiang Plan is the cure to the traditional class teaching. Class is not teacher-centered any more. On the contrary, the Plan is the new class teaching way to contribute to the students’ self-study with the guidance of the teachers. It can develop their good learning habits, improve their ability to study independently, insure the class participation to improve the efficiency and quality of teaching. For now, to follow the teaching reform, the obvious action is to change the traditional ways to arrange the tables and chairs. In the classroom, more than five students as a group and sit around the big square made up by tables. Every group has a white board to write their discussion results. In every discussion, some groups can show their white board to the whole class. When it comes to English vocabulary teaching, the Plan can connect task based teaching methods and cooperative learning with students’ self-study. In the post-method era, the Plan makes teaching reform possible and save students out of the textbooks, which really encourages students to learn by doing, by exploring and by thinking.
     1.2 Questions and Hypothesis  
        Before doing the research, we had the questions and hypothesis. In other words, the purpose of his study is to answer the questions:
    Does the Plan have the significant effect on students’ vocabulary learning ?
    If it does, what the effect does the Plan have on students’ vocabulary learning ?
    Is it better than the traditional vocabulary teaching methods?
        The research hypothesis is that the Xuejiang Plan does have significant effect on student’s vocabulary leaning. It is also assumed that the Plan can be helpful to the vocabulary teaching for its unique methods and ideas of class teaching. In the thesis, the effect that the Plan applied in English vocabulary teaching has is focused on and the efficiency of the Plan will be analyzed. At last, we will put forward some other hypotheses to get further information about the plan.
