     The study on the English word recognition ability among Chinese elementary school students

    Abstract Sight words size is an important part of learning English as a foreign language, especially in early grades. That is, rapid word recognition plays an important and facilitating role in foreign language development, but by and large, most elementary school students in China do not seem to develop good word recognition skills. These students usually start learning English with enthusiasm, which, when times goes by, subsides relatively quickly, mostly because of the intimidating vocabulary size for these beginning learners. Therefore, this thesis is aimed to find the current situation and influence factors of elementary school students’ English word recognition ability. The research tools used include a questionnaire and a word recognition test. After data collection, analysis is conducted and several suggestion are provided to improve elementary school students’ word recognition ability and cultivate their positive attitudes toward English.

    中国小学高年级英语单词认读能力研究 摘要常用词汇量是以英语为外语学习中的一个重要组成部分,尤其是在低年级。即快速的单词认读能力在语言理解和记忆中起到指导和促进作用,但总的来说,大多数中国小学高年级学生的单词识别能力似乎并没有得到发展良好。通常,-优尔^文'论"文.网www.youerw.com这些学生在开始学习英语时,充满热情,但当时间流逝,很快消退,主要是因为词汇量开始恐吓到初学者。因此,本文的目的是要找到小学生的学习现状和影响英语单词识别能力的因素。所使用的研究工具包括问卷调查和一个单词识别测试。数据收集后, 将进行分析并且提供一些建议进行改善小学生的单词识别能力以培养他们的积极乐观的英语学习态度。
