    1. Introduction

      1.1 Background of the Study

    At present, science and technology develop rapidly, projector teaching, computer teaching and network teaching have also developed in the information society, and they have influences on various aspects such as teaching concept, teaching design, teaching objectives and teaching means, teaching modes and so on. The core of education reform is to change traditional teaching model and integrate advanced technology with specific teaching activities in order to emphasize the subjectivity of students and make the new cooperative teaching play a major role in classroom teaching. Flipped classroom teaching model was firstly recognized in the United States, and Chinese education workers and teachers also began to be interested in this flipped teaching model along with further promotion and application of computer technology in our country. However, there are few applications of flipped classroom teaching in English teaching in universities and colleges in China, so this paper tries to propose some strategies to change the traditional teaching mode in universities and colleges. Besides, traditional teaching model can be innovated and teaching quality as well as teaching levels in universities and colleges can also be improved at the same time. 

    1.2 Purpose and Significance of the Study

    The purpose of this paper is to change the traditional teaching model and provide some suggestions for the application of flipped classroom teaching model in English teaching in universities and colleges in order to improve the teaching and learning effect as well as cultivate students’ ability to use English in daily communication. 

    The significance of this paper is to bring flipped classroom teaching model into English teaching in universities and colleges. It can improve teacher’s teaching concepts, realize students’ autonomous learning and personalized learning as well help train their cooperative ability. This study is of great significance to the real application of flipped classroom teaching model in English teaching in universities and colleges in our country and it plays an important in improving students’ cross-cultural communicative ability and comprehensive ability at the same time.
