I. Introduction
It’s undisputable that language teaching can’t be separated from culture teaching in light of the close relationship between language and culture. In addition, with the increasing popularity of international communication, the cultivation of students’ intercultural communication competence becomes more and more urgent. Thus, culture input must be organically integrated into foreign language teaching, and English language teaching is no exception. Since the late 1980s, culture teaching has received increasing attention in China. More and more scholars and educators realized the importance of culture input in English language teaching. The good news is that culture teaching has achieved some good results in China. Nevertheless, the achievement can only be seen in the introduction of target culture, especially the culture input of America and Britain. In fact, culture input in English language teaching is currently suffering a serious imbalance. At the same time, students’ intercultural communication competence is also not optimistic, and English majors are no exception. The majority of English majors are unable to introduce Chinese culture fluently and properly in the process of intercultural communication because of their deficient understanding of Chinese culture.
