Abstract Notre-Dame De Paris, the classic of the French writer, Victor Hugo, is a popular work of Romance. In this well-known novel, Hugo creates a series of personalities of the characters for readers. Claude Frollo is a typical villain and, to some content, he is the most profound character in the novel. He is a distinctive character with strange personalities. His complex character is formed by the combined effect of both his personal and the environmental factors, which also pushes him into the abyss of tragedy.57462

This paper uses some details about Claude’s performances in the novel and focuses on the causes of the formation of Claude’s complex character, which can be pided into the external environment he lived in and the internal causes of himself to show how Claude’s complex character formed. It is aimed at warning people today to lay stress on family education and attach importance to moral education and self-education. The tragedy like Claude could be avoided.

The paper falls into five parts. The first part serves as an introduction. The second part aims at analyzing the background of Claude’s life. The third part shows the exemplifications of Claude Frollo’s complex character. The fourth part probes into the causes of the formation of Claude’s complex character. The fifth part functions as a conclusion.

摘要《巴黎圣母院》作为法国作家的经典之作，是一部著名的浪漫主义文学作品。在这部百科全书式的作品中，雨果为读者展现了一系列性格迥异的人物形象。克洛德是一个典型的反派角色，但从某种程度上说，他却是小说中最有深度的人物。他是一个性鲜明的人物，有着复杂的性格。个人因素和外界环境形成了他复杂的人物性格，也推动了他走向了悲剧的深渊。

本篇论文使用了原文中的一些细节，着重叙述了克洛德复杂性格的形成因素，来展现克洛德复杂性格的变化。因素可分为外界环境因素与自在个人因素。本文旨在告诫如今的人注重家庭教育、道德教育与自我教育。避免克洛德式悲剧的产生。
