Abstract With the rapid development of globalization and information technology, cultural collision and integration have been an inevitable phenomenon. Under the influence of Chinese and American cultures, the factors which cause cultural conflicts, exchange, and integration are the different values, dietary habits, language styles and so on. Films, as the media of cultural communication, are the embodiment of human civilization and progress. With the intuitive and vivid way, films convey the deep foundation of different cultures and inspire audiences to better cope with cultural conflicts from a different perspective. Based on previous researches, this thesis gives a brief overview of the researches on intercultural communication and cultural integration, and analyzes the concrete reflection and realistic significance of Chinese and American cultures reflected in the film, A Grandson from America. Therefore, this film analyses cultural conflicts between China and American from dietary habits, language styles and personal values. What’s more, the mutual integration of different cultures has also been fully clarified by the promotion of shadow puppetry and familial affection.62102

摘要随着信息技术和全球化的快速发展，各国间的文化碰撞与融合已经成为一种必然现象。然而，在中美文化的影响下，中美两国人在饮食习惯、语言风格及价值观等方面的不同则导致了文化的冲突交流和融合。作为文化传播的载体，电影无疑是人类文明和进步的巨大体现，它以一种直观而又生动的方式向人们传递着不同文化的深厚内涵并启发观众以一种新的视角去对待文化冲突。基于前人研究，本文即是简要概述了跨文化以及文化融合的研究，并从《孙子从美国来》剖析这部电影中所反映的中美文化差异的具体表现及其现实意义，因此，本文将从饮食习惯、语言风格和个人价值观三方面解析中美文化冲突，然后具体阐述不同文化在亲情和皮影这两个因素促进下的的相互融合。

1. Introduction 

With the increasingly frequent communication among nations, cultural integration has apparently been the best solution to cultural conflicts. As a way of cultural adjustments, cultural integration plays a vital role in modern age both at home and abroad. It can not only be perceived from the outside world but also be delivered by films.

Released in 2012, A Grandson from America strengthens the cultural integration between China and America in the process of inheritance protection of shadow puppetry. Because of emergency, Brooks was sent to his grandpa’ so suddenly that a series of awkward conflicts and contradictions appeared between the stubborn grandpa and the naughty grandson. After collision and mutual containment, the feeling has shifted from opposition to acknowledgement. Different cultural beliefs as they hold, they can put themselves in others’ position to understand and acknowledge others’ values, and achieve a harmonious coexistence with each other in the end. Walking down the rural lane, grandpa and grandson talked about their heroes—Monkey King and Spider Man, then they drew a conclusion: Let the Monkey King and spider man become friends, and defend our earth together! At the end of the film, with firecrackers and fireworks in the air, son and his family return to celebrate the Spring Festival and keep the old accompany. The film shows the mutual exclusion, opposition, containment and acceptance, which are exactly the trend of development of cultural communication, and the aim of this film.文献综述
