The gardening theme in May Sarton’s Encore Abstract May Sarton (May 3, 1912 – July 16, 1995), a renowned diarist, novelist and poet in America, is known of her journals。 This paper focuses on Encore and hopes to give a deep discussion about the relationship between gardening and aging。 This paper consists of four parts。 Firstly, the introduction part briefly discuss about May Sarton and Encore。 At the same time, it also deals with the literature review about Sarton’s works。 Then, the paper talks about two parts of the gardening theme, the frequency and duration of Sarton’s gardening and the ways of Sarton’s gardening。 Thirdly, it closely analyzes the relation between positive aging and gardening, which is the main body of this paper。 It firstly gives the definitions of aging and positive aging。 And then it explores how gardening promotes Sarton’s positive aging from three aspects---the changes in physical condition and psychological condition through gardening and also the changes in attitudes towards death through gardening。 And in the conclusion part, it hopes to provide a salutary lesson for the elderly to live a positive life in advanced age。 Meanwhile, this paper also helps the young generation to have a better understanding of aging and the elderly, and rethink their own life。72130

梅·萨藤《返场》中园艺主题的分析

摘  要梅·萨藤（1912。05。03-1995。7。16），美国颇有声誉的日记体作家、小说家和诗人，因她的日记而为人所熟知。本论文即是以萨藤的《返场》为文本，希望能借此深刻地讨论园艺与积极衰老两者之间的关系。本论文主要由四部分组成。第一，简明扼要地介绍梅·萨藤及其日记《返场》。与此同时，关于萨藤作品的文献综述也包含其中。第二，大致分析园艺的主题。此部分分析讨论提及园艺的频率和萨藤每次进行园艺活动的持续时间，以及萨藤种植园艺的方式方法。第三，也是本论文的主体部分，主要讨论分析积极衰老与园艺之间的关系。关于衰老以及积极衰老的定义也会在此部分得以分析讨论。园艺活动是如何促进萨藤的积极衰老的问题将从三点来分析，包括园艺活动后萨藤在身体上和心理上的变化，以及其对死亡的观点的变化。最后，本论文希望为老年人的积极衰老生活提供有益的借鉴。同时，本文还希望可以帮助年轻人对衰老以及老年人有一个更好的理解，并能借此重新思考自己的人生。
