Title An Analysis of Alice Munro’s Short Story “Runaway” from the Perspective of Eco-feminism
Abstract As one of the most famous Canadian women writers, Alice Munro is called “Chekhov in Canada” and won the Nobel Prize for literature in 2013。 Taking her representative work “Runaway” as the research object, this thesis studies the image of Carla, Sylvia and the goat Flora from the perspective of ecological feminism in this short story in two different ways。 On the one hand, woman and nature have a more intimate relationship; on the other hand, woman and nature are all oppressed by man。 Carla fails to run away and has become a defender of the patriarchal society。 The thesis aims to inspire women's consciousness of independence, develop the equality between the two sexes, and promote harmony between human and nature。

1 Introduction
1.1 Significance of the Research
Alice Munro is called “Chekhov in Canada” due to her achievements in literature and winning of the Nobel Prize for literature in 2013。 Most of her works are about women such as Lives of Girls and Women, The Love of a Good Woman, Runaway, and Dear Life。 Her early stories mainly focus on the dilemmas of a girl with family and the town where she grows up。 But recently, she shifts her focus to the middle-aged women and old women, such as Friendship, Courtship, Marriage and Runaway。 “Her male characters tend to capture the essence of the everyman, while her female characters are more complex” (Helen, 1980)。论文网
