Abstract Film has gone beyond a simple entertainment。 It is an important cultural industry and a carrier of culture of a nation The United States is a nation of culture and plays a significant role in the world of film。 American films have broken many records of box offices due to huge investments, perfect techniques and star-studded casting。 Superhero films are unfailing among them。 Especially in the 21st century, we witness a big increase in the production of the hero film genre and the rise in the number of the audience。 Captain America has been favored by a bewildering number of fans since it is released。 There are four parts in this paper: part one is an introduction of this thesis, part two is a general introduction of Captain America and the theory on which this thesis is based, part three is the main body of the thesis and it studied the journey of the archetypal hero and part four is a brief conclusion。80955

According to myth-archetypal criticism, prototype theories of psychology, which applied to the field of literature and art, focuses on literary symbolism prototypes and their mutual relations。 gods or heroic acts in mythology were later told repeatedly by humans。 Films reprocess the theme archetypes, character archetypes and plot archetypes in the mythologies and provide a new interpretation。 Archetypal criticism’ originates from two other academic disciplines, social anthropology and psychoanalysis; each contributed to literary criticism in separate ways, with the latter being a sub-branch of critical theory。
