First of all, Schultz takes Django to the south to hunt a group of criminals。 In this process, Django learns important skills of shooting, capturing and tracking。 He has shown his amazing talent。 For example, in the first meeting with Brito brothers, Django easily kills two brothers。 This is the first show of his shooting talent。 Next, Schultz and Django continue bounty hunter career shoulder by shoulder。 They cooperate with each other and become perfect partners。 Finally, Django and Schultz focus on Calvin, the lord of a candy manor。 Calvin is the owner the candy manor while he is also a cruel slaveholder。 Django and Schultz decide to take the approach that they pretend to purchase slaves at a high price to successfully enter Calvin’s manor。 After entering the manor, Django meets his wife there。 In order to rescuing his beloved wife Broome, Django, together with Schultz, begins a furious fight with Calvin and his black butler, Stephen。 However, Their plan has been seen through by the black butler Stephen。 Schultz is killed and Django is arrested and sold to the mine again。 On the way to the mine, Django shows his superior wisdom and mature skills。 He successfully escapes。 Then Django returns to the manor alone。 He kills all the white and rescues his wife。 Eventually, the candy manor is burned in a fire。 Django starts new life with his wife。

2 Literature Review

Since its release in 2012, the film Django Unchained has caused great debate and controversy。 It has captured attention among reviewers and scholars。 

From the perspective of the themes in the film, Fu Hui states in A Black’s Counter-Attack: Review of the Film Django Unchained that the film is not just a movie simply tells a story about anti-racial discrimination。 She points out that by telling a story that a just bounty hunter helps a black slave save his wife and receive freedom, it conveys three key words to the audience in details: freedom, servility and revolt。 (Fu Hui, 2014) Besides, Qin Lifeng analyzes the theme of the film saying that the real theme of the movie is “break” and “create”。 “The part of the “break” is the black slavery and racism in the early United States and people’s soul which has been twisted for a long time while the part of the “create” is the thought of freedom, humanity and justice that has been lost in American society since a long time ago。”(Qin Lifeng, 2015:131)

Wang Jiangpeng analyzes the film from the views of human nature and faith。 He believes that it is just the great human nature that Schultz rescues Django and sacrifices his life for helping Django to save his wife。 At the same time, it is the faith for freedom and equality that makes Django fight against the cruel reality as a soldier without any fear。(Wang Jiangpeng, 2013:37)

By analyzing the image of Django, Luo Zhan comments that on the one hand, it is the first step of self-liberation for him to be rescued by Schultz, but it is the further step of self-liberation for him to save his wife。 Due to love, Django is bent on saving his wife。 Django believes in love, which reflects the spiritual needs as an inpidual。 It is the key and internal cause for the hero to seek and obtain liberation。(Luo Zhan, 2014:132)
