1 Introduction
Eric Arthur Blair, known by his pen name George Orwell, was an English novelist and journalist. His work is marked by clarity, intelligence and wisdom, complete awareness of social injustice, opposition to totalitarianism, and belief in democratic socialism. Considered one of the 20th century's best chroniclers of English culture, George Orwell wrote literary criticism, poetry, fiction and polemical journalism. Animal Farm is his most famous allegorical novel. This thesis will analyze the application of the symbolism in Animal Farm.
On the outbreak of World War II, George Orwell submitted his name to the Central Register for war effort but nothing transpired. In the March of 1943 George Orwell’s mother died and around the same time he was starting work on a new book, which would turn out to be Animal Farm. It is an allegorical novella by George Orwell published in England on 17 August 1945. 英语论文剖析《动物庄园》中的象征主义:http://www.youerw.com/yingyu/lunwen_3948.html
