Abstract The Kite Runner is the first novel written by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. Once it was published, it became the best seller on New York Times. This novel is about an Afghanistan boy, Amir, who despised his brother Hassan and then redeemed himself several years later. The kite is the main line of this novel. It also has many symbolic meanings. The purpose of this paper is to explore the nature of humanity and appreciate the beauty of human being’s nature through the interpretation of the images of the kite in The Kite Runner. It also helps us to understand Islamic culture and sympathize the sufferings of common people in Afghanistan. At the same time, it makes us realize that we should cherish and love the existing beautiful life.

I. Introduction
The Kite Runner is the Afghan-American writer Khaled Hosseini’s first novel. It is also the first book written in English by the Afghanistan writer in American literature history. The book has won many significant awards. It is a powerful book, with no frills, no nonsense and just hard spare prose. On intimate account of family and friendship, betrayal and salvation that required to enlighten us, parts of The Kite Runner are unfamiliar and excruciating to read, yet the book in this entirety is written with love. Hosseini clearly loves his country as much as he hates what has become of it.
The Kite Runner is full of exoticism which is foreign to western readers. The author describes turbulent Afghanistan history spanning for over three decades, including Afghanistan civil war in 1978, the expiration of monarchy, the invasion of former Soviet Union, the northern Alliance, atrocity of Taliban, and the feud between Pashtun and Hazara. It also reflects the darkness of humanity which leads readers to pursue the nature of humanity and realize the kindness of humanity. This is a real story of Afghanistan.
