Abstract With the development of the mass media technology, foreign films and television works, especially U。S。 films, have gained a firm footing in  the Chinese market。 Then, as the time advances, Chinese people have greatly improved their material conditions and more and more people value their spiritual pursuits。 As a result, the introduction of U。S。 film makes the subtitle translation of films get more recognition and popularity。 As an effective form of intercultural communication, subtitle translation is a purposeful behavior and it aims to convey the needed information to audiences for a better understanding and appreciation of the film effectively and accurately。 Nevertheless, the subtitle translation in China is still in the early stage and its translation system will become better in the further。 Taking The Croods as a case from the perspective of the Skopos Theory, the thesis analyzes the features and purposes of the subtitle translation, and then evaluates the translated version with the rules of Skopos Theory。91732
