3。2。3 Part-time job

It’s common in America that children have part-time jobs when they are students; but in China, part-time jobs are not accepted by most parents。 After Mason enters into a high school, he washes dishes in a restaurant to make money, and his father is very proud of his son。 As a high school student, Mason does part-time jobs at the same time, his parents do not stop but very support him。 His parents are very happy because their son learns to understand the hardships of parents, and he tries to reduce the economic burden of his parents by doing part-time jobs。

It can be seen that American parents not only do not oppose their children to work early to earn money, but also very support this practice。 It is true that parents can not support them throughout their whole life, and they do not have the obligation to support their children when they are grown。 The children will be able to feed themselves sooner or later, children start to have part-time jobs so early that they can exercise their will and cultivate self-care ability。

On the contrary, in China, high school is a very important stage of life for children to learn , children are absolutely not allowed to do anything that influence their learning process, not to mention spending almost half of the study-time doing part-time jobs like American children。 Chinese laws publish strict regulations that all the stores or business can not recruit or employ minors, and parents are so spoiled child that they are very unwilling to let their children do different kinds of dirty works because they view their children as pearls in the palms , so the children in China can do part-time jobs after graduating from high school in general。

3。2。4 Housework文献综述

American parents emphasize the importance of children’s completion of housework while Chinese parents are not concerned with the ability of children to do housework independently。 Mason’s mother marries four men throughout her life, Mason and his sister Samantha live with their mother from beginning to the end。 No matter where they are, they must do the housework, such as cleaning up the table, washing dishes, etc。 There is such a scrap in the movie: one day, Mason’s father comes to pick up his children to play outside, but the two kids have not completed their housework, so they have to give up their plans of trip on the second day。 They know completing housework arranged for them is their responsibility, and they can’t refuse to take on their duties。
