This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter tells the story of Wu’s personal profile as well as the experience that has happened to impact in his art career; the second chapter tells the art of life of Wu Changshuo, and introduces the origin and development of his art; the third chapter tells Wu devoted his life to the study of the inscriptions on drum-shaped stone blocks, and beyond the sages, get rid of the stale and bring forth the fresh, introduce the technique features of inscriptions on drum-shaped stone to calligraphy and painting, even seal carving, complete many artist’s dreams, to the calligraphy into the painting, to the calligraphy into the sealing. Let his art can achieve mastery through a comprehensive study each other. Eventually form his own style; the forth chapter tells Wu’s art have impact on domestic artists, even have impact on overseas’ art market; the finally chapter tells a chronicle of Wu’s life.

浅析吴昌硕的书画篆刻艺术
绪论
吴昌硕作为上海画派后期领袖，是晚清明初最具代表性的艺术家。他因将书法、绘画以及刻印等艺术相互融合，独辟艺术新风而享誉海内外，并且对中国近百年来传统书画艺术的走向产生了深远的影响。
吴昌硕的少年时代，亲身经历了太平天国运动的惊涛骇浪。五年的逃难流浪生涯对他的一生产生了较深刻的影响，使他懂得了世间人情冷暖，锻炼了坚忍的心志和刚强的人格，这使他在日后长时间的逆境里始终葆有一份豁达的心境和对苦尽甘来的憧憬。此后，吴昌硕在青年的科举求学、中年的宦海漂泊中苦苦寻觅和选择着自己的人生道路，游学以及官宦生涯构成了他一生中时间最长也是最重要的一部分。其中，从而立之年到近古稀之年对仕途生涯的追求跟官场之间的来回转迁，向来都被研究者有意或者无意的忽视，其实这却是他在艺术追求外，持续时间最久的追寻。如他在苏州为小吏、候补官员多年，多次入幕，并以金石之艺周旋于晚清官场，亲身经历了甲午中日战争。仕宦阅历跟政治理想并非对其艺术都是负面影响，这使他的艺术具备了更阔达、高远以及深沉的内涵，得以在画坛脱颖而出。晚年，吴昌硕又经历了辛亥革命以及军阀混战，一生都生活在乱世之中，所有临终前仍然对太平盛世充满渴望，这对他想超越现实的苦难、追求美好的理想境界产生了一定的影响。
吴昌硕一生中复杂的际遇、丰富的性情以及广阔的交游，给他的艺术生涯增添了不少的色彩。他艺术的独特之处就是在于能够以金石入画、以金石入书甚至以金石入印，他以最传统的艺术因素和审美理想塑造了崭新的艺术风格和风气，也有着比同时期画家更加清晰的开宗立派的意识。
