     Design Instruction
    Nowadays, we ask more and more on living condition and air quality. Air conditioning system is invented and set by Willis•Haviland•Carrier, an American inventor, while the concept of air conditioning is established farther earlier. In China, the first commercial building with central air conditioning system was finished in 1924. In 1950s, specialists began to pay much emphasis on the further research on air conditioning. At present, air conditioning system is applied much more frequently and widely. It can be called one of the most important invention in twenty century.
    Actually we often call air conditioning technology as HVAC, which means heating ventilation and air controlling. It is the technique we use to adjust indoor air index, reach the needs on users’ comfort and industry produce. The air condition of an certain place can be impacted by the indoor heat moisture content as well as the harmful distractions. In order to keep an limitative range of degree, humidity, cleanliness and speed of air flow of indoor air, several techniques should be used to eliminate these negative impacts. The techniques we often use are: keep the heat moisture contents by heat moisture exchange technology, keep the air flows in certain speed by air flow organization technology, ect.
    People use air conditioning to meet our demands on indoor thermal environment, air quality by artificial means. It is designed basically on the characteristics of indoor thermal environment and the air quality, which should be related with the knowledge of air-conditioning system, HVAC facilities and the influence of it.
     This project is about the HVAC system of a complex building. Amount of material, such as weather conditions and requirement of air-conditioning, is referred to decide the scheme of the project.
    The first part of the project is the design of the hotel. It covers an area of 1465m2 each floor. The elevation of the 16th floor is 116.4m, the height of each floor is 4.4m, while the clear height is 3m for the place without suspending ceiling. The total area of the hotel (without the equipment floor) is 51275m2. The project should reach the demands of construction depth on the standard floor. The plotting is based on the architectural chart of the standard floor.
    After the comparison of each air conditioning system, the system of hotel is decided as follows. Semi centralized system of FCU with fresh air. The fresh air doesn’t charge the indoor load. The fresh air is extracted from the equipment floor and handled in machine room of each floor. After being mixed with the flow from FCU, it will be send to the room. The flow is send from the side and return from above. Same process water supply is adopted on each floor with the following advantages: the water way loop of each terminal is equal to others; system resistance is easy to keep in balance, ect. The generator room is set in the basement, while the exact place of the each floor is pided to act as the fresh air machine room. Air exhaust should be set in several place such as toilet, machine room and distribution room. Mechanical smoke exhaust is used. Smoke is gathered and discharge through the shaft.
    The first part of the project is the study of the ground source heat pump. Because of the space limitation of the generator room, it only load the needs of the office building. Some of the data is from the calculation of the office building by team members, such as the cold load and partial hydraulic calculation.
    The original design of the office building continues to use and is appropriately changed. Total cold load can be get through the cold load of each floor, which can be used to choose the source generator unit. The pump can be choose on lift and water yield through the data of the hydraulic calculation. Other equipment will be choose according to the operation process of the pump system.
    The necessary schematics are as follows: plans of each branch system of the hotel, the system chart, section chart, plan of generator room, system chart of generator room, section chart of generator room, ect.
