A Brief Analysis of Situation and Development of Television Public Service Programs
Abstract: The prevalence of the concept of public service in the media field is a reflection of social progress. Public service programs can stimulate awareness and philosophy of service to the community and caring for others. The current public service programs can be broadly pided into three categories: the people's livelihood program mainly to help vulnerable groups, public service advertising and public goods. They generally have common characteristics of non-profit, social and educational. But there are drawbacks to television public service programs of imbalances due to the public nature, roughness, and too much commercialization. This paper put forward some suggestions, including always adhere to the charity theme, serve the public; make full use of television language, improve visibility; corporate intervention and financial support; interaction with the audience and so on, in order to provide some reference for the development of television public service programs .
