And for strategies of brand translation, most former researchers talked about the similar kind classification。 Take Yang Lihua’s research as an example, she said “there are four main translation methods, namely, transliteration, literal translation, free translation and a combined translation of sound and meaning” (Yang,2010)。 Transliteration is to translate the brand names according to its pronunciation when literal translation is to translate the brand names according to its literal meaning。 Free translation is a supplementary mean to mainly convey the meaning and spirit of the original and it might be far from the exact wording of the original name。 And the last one, combined translation of sound and meaning, is the most advocated translation method for “it can not only keep the flavor of the original, but also convey the products’ functions and features” (Yang,2010)。 However there are still many other methods in brand translation, translators should not be locked just in these four strategies。
