1。 Introduction(490)
1。1 The background of the English writing
Writing plays an important role in language learning and it is also the intuitive and accurate way to testify the language competence of the learner。 Writing is one of the four basic skills of foreign language learning which include listening, speaking, reading and writing。 Among them, listening comprehension and reading comprehension are both receptive skills while speaking and writing are productive skills。
Furthermore, writing is considered to be a higher level which is hard to reach in the language learning process because the learners with good writing abilities are supposed to have a good command of vocabulary, grammar and they should be equipped with the abilities to express their ideas logically and fluently in the target language。 Nowadays, English writing has been a big challenge for both middle school students and English teachers in China。
For students, English writing could be the most difficult part in their daily English learning。 Many students would feel worried when they are requested to write a composition on their own。 Because they usually fail to have proper knowledge for what to write and how to write the composition。 They find it hard to apply the way that their teachers have taught them how to write the composition。 Moreover, many of them think that the writing class is boring and it is hard for teachers to arouse their interests。
Meanwhile, for English teachers, they also come across certain problems。 Teachers’ teaching style should fit the learning style and strategies of their students so that the students would be encouraged to have an interest in the writing class。 But many teachers are intended to choose the traditional English writing teaching methods such as analyzing the sentence patterns of the model composition and simply asking students to note down and memorize the model sentences mechanically。
