Taking into children’s cognitive development into consideration, the significance of this 

this paper is to prove how the Game-based Teaching Approach makes a difference on the English teaching。 By the experiment which gives priority to different teaching processes between the game-based teaching and the traditional teaching method, the advantages and disadvantages of the Game-based Teaching Approach can be easily found for further study。 

     The aim of this paper is to test: whether the Game-based Teaching Approach can stimulate students’ interest in learning English; in comparsion with the traditional teaching method, whether the Game-based Teaching Approach is helpful to improve students’ scores and promote the teaching quantity。 

2。 Literature Review

      It is universally acknowledged that different opinions on the Game-based Teaching Approach have been put forward by different scholars in different times。 In this part, this paper introduces some information about the Game-based Teaching Approach。 

2。1 Definitions of “game”

     The word game has been defined in different ways by many scholars and authors。

     Byrne (Byrne 1995) gave a definition of the game is that it’s a form of playing governed by rules。 

     “A well designed game is a activity, in which players engage in an abstract challenge, defined by rules, an interactivity and feedback that result in a quantifiable outcome often eliciting an emotional reaction。” (Kapp& Cone 2012)。 Because the whole team pull together during the game, a common goal can be achieved。 

     Similarly, in Foundation of Early Childhood Education: Teaching Three-, Four- and Five-year-old Children, (Spodek, Olivia, & Davis 1990), it is defined that “game is a variety of playing activities。 They are highly structured and include specific rules followed。”

     From that we can see, game is an activity designed by a organizer with some specific rules, in which the players work together to reach a common goal。 Because of the strict rules, the game is competitive enough that the winners can achieve a sense of satisfaction from the game。 Also, game should be funny so that players can take active participate in the game, communicate with each other in the game and share their happiness in the game。

     According to the definitions mentioned in the previous part, games exert a important part in English teaching。 In fact, teaching knowledge is a boring and tough process。 Since knowledge is abstract and it’s difficult for many students to comprehend well, especially in English class。 Large difference existing between Chinese and English make it difficult for students to learn the English vocabulary and the grammar serves for sentences, let alone communicate with others in English in their daily life。论文网

     Nevertheless, it is easy for students to understand the teaching content by games。 Under some well-connected kinds of games, students can not only quickly fit in a relaxed and enjoyable English environment but also learn to express their ideas, communicative with others and enjoy the pleasure bought by the English class。

     In conclusion, the Game-based Teaching Approach is a new teaching method in which a wide range of teaching activities will be integrated into all aspects of English teaching by teachers。 For this reason, students can make great progress in learning English。 Actually, it’s a method that can cultivate students’ abilities。
