Abstract With the informatization of social life and the globalization of economy, the importance of English is more and more highlighted。 And the impartible relationship between language and culture determines that the English teaching in junior high school is not only about the teaching of language points and literal knowledge, but also the spread of culture and the cultivation of cross-cultural communication awareness and competence。 This thesis focuses on the necessity of cultural teaching and aims to find out the relationship between cultural teaching and English teaching according to the relationship between language and culture。 Based on the characteristics of junior high school students, this thesis puts forward some relevant practical methods to help student to establish the awareness of internationalization and their competence of cross culture to develop their ability of intercultural communication。94002

Since the accession to the World Trade Organization, China has been keeping a close relation with the world。 As the first official language, English plays a vital role in the development of the world。 And as the future of our country, our students should be equipped with competence of intercultural communication。 Because of different languages, manner, custom, religion belief, social system, and way of life, each state has its own special culture。 Ignoring the cultural differences will lead to poor judgment and failing communication。 Thus, telling the differences between the native and the target culture is of great significance for foreign language learning。 

The best way to develop a fool of fluent language is to adopt a method that only knows the language but does not understand the culture。 In order to help students get ready for the future, it is our teachers’ duty and responsibility to combine culture and language together, and build students’ intercultural awareness, and polish up their ability of cross-cultural communication。 This thesis will keep a view on the meaning of cross culture, the relationship between cultural teaching and English teaching, the request of the development of internationalization, and put stress on methods of cultivating the awareness of intercultural communication by enlightening the meaning of English words and searching for the relevant cultural background information。 This thesis also aims to explore approaches of developing intercultural competence by exploring existing material enlightening the cultural knowledge, designing the interactive point of cultural education and inspiring students to maintain adequate cultural interest in learning。
