3。 “i+1”Theory
3。1 Definition of “i+1”theory文献综述
“i+1” tries to explain how language learners acquire language, i。e how language learners develop from “i”stage to “i+1”stage。 Here, “i” represents the current competence of language learners, “i+1” represents the language level after the language input。 Krashen put forwards a necessary but not sufficient condition。 That’s to say, the language material must be a little above the current level of language learners。 It seems that this condition is full of contradiction。 In fact, the difference between language input and language level can be solved by learners through the communication situation, the personal experience, the context and non-language abilities。 By these means, the unknown information can be turned into the comprehensible input, which will be understood and then kept in their minds。 This acquisition way is more inclined to go for meaning first。 In short, “i+1”includes the following meanings: “i+1”is relevant to acquisition rather than language learning; language learners can acquire language by understanding the language input which is slightly above the learners’ current level。 In order to realize this whole process, the context and non-language abilities can be used。 If the communication succeed or the sufficient language input can be understood, the language learners will step into the “i+1”stage。
