Translation of Words with Chinese Characteristics-----A Perspective of Skopos Theory

Abstract：In recent years, with the deepening of globalization and the development of China's political, economic, cultural and other strengths, China plays an increasingly significant role in international  relations. How to spread Chinese culture through translation has aroused the attention of scholars. However, most of the current popular translation theories discuss the relationship between culture and translation from a macro perspective, and there are relatively few studies on the translation of representative and emerging Chinese characteristic words,  which makes the theory of cultural translation in practice very limited.

Skopos theory has been proposed as early as 1970s. Different from the traditional translation theories, the source language is used as the source of information in Skopos theory. This theory is a deconstructive theoretical model from the perspective of translation studies. It focuses on the function of translation and pays attention to the practicability of translation.

This thesis takes the skopos theory as the research perspective and takes the Chinese characteristics words and expressions in the 2017 government work report as examples, by using means of text analysis, contrastive analysis and exemplification, combining the application of Chinese words in the process of translation with the Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule of Skopos theory, this paper summarizes translation strategies such as free translation, literal translation and annotation to find a suitable direction and method for the Chinese words

and expressions in the government work report in 2017.

It is found that if the Chinese characteristics words in  the government work report use the corresponding translation strategies according to their different purposes, it will make Chinese culture transmission more precise and have Chinese characteristics, while greatly shortening the target audience and source language distance and accepted by the Chinese and foreign people. In this way, we can expand the influence of Chinese culture, strengthen cultural exchanges  between China and the West.

从翻译目的论看中国特色词语翻译

摘要：近年来，随着全球化程度日益加深以及中国政治、经济、文化等各项实力的 增强，中国在国际关系中起到越来越重要的作用。如何通过翻译传播中国文化已 引起相关学者的重视。但目前流行的翻译理论大多从宏观角度来讨论文化与翻译 的关系，对于具有代表性及新兴的中国特色词语的翻译研究相对较少，这使得文 化翻译在实践中可依据的理论十分有限。

翻译目的论早在 20 世纪 70 年代已被提出。与传统的翻译理论不同，这一理 论将源语仅作为翻译的信息来源，是从译文视角进行翻译研究的一种解构主义理 论模式。它以译文功能为取向，注重翻译的实用性。

本文以翻译目的论为研究视角，以 2017 年政府工作报告中的中国特色词语 为实例，采取文本分析法、对比分析法和例证法，将中国特色词语在翻译过程中 的应用与翻译目的论的目的原则、连贯原则、忠实原则相结合，总结出意译、直 译、增加注释等翻译策略，为 2017 年政府工作报告中的中国特色词语找到一种 合适的翻译方向、方法。

研究发现，政府工作报告中的中国特色词语根据其不同的表达目的，使用与 之相对应的翻译策略，会使中国文化在对外传输过程中更加准确兼具中国特色， 同时大大的缩短了目的语受众与源语的距离，为中外人士所接受，扩大中国文化 影响力，加强中西方文化交流。
