3.2 Influence of APEC on China-ROK Trade APEC has 21 members --- referred to as “Member Economies” --- which account for approximately 40.5% of the world’s population, approximately 54.2% of world GDP and about 43.7% of world trade (Fung Ka Ying Sandi & Jiang Yang, 2009: 6). APEC benefits citizens of member nations by creating more opportunity in the workplace, providing less expensive goods and services, increasing the ability to participate in the international market and safeguarding the common interests of the people of the region.
