Abstract This paper compares and interprets Hemingway’s experiences and works to briefly analyze causes of his character formation by Freud’s theory of personality. It analyzes Hemingway’s family and works which reflect his inner changes and shows the growth of his characters and explains why and how Hemingway’s character forms. By observing the process of Hemingway’s character formation according to his life experiences and works, it helps us have a better understanding of our own personality and reconstruct or revise the character, making it easier and better to live in the world. And putting yourself into others’ broken shoes and having a independent personality play a important role in living in this fierce competition of the society.68984

摘 要本文简要地以弗洛伊德人格理论,具体通过海明威人生经历及其主要代表作品作品,用对比、阐述的方法来分析海明威的性格构成,分析海明威的性格形成的原因。正文通过分析海明威的家庭和作品,从中反映海明威的内在的变化过程和人格的成长并阐释了海明威人格形成的原因和过程。联系海明威的人生经历和他的作品,观察海明威的性格形成的过程,让人对自身性格的构成有个深刻的理解,尽可能的进行性格重塑和修整让人得以更好的生存。而以他人为镜,建立并完善一个独立的人格对于在竞争激烈的社会当中更好的生存下去有着不可或缺的作用。

An Analysis of Hemingway’s Character Formation
Introduction
Ernest Miller Hemingway (21 July 1899 – 2 July 1961), American writer and reporter, is considered one of the most famous 20th century novelist. Born in suburb of the city of Oak Park of Illinois of Chicago, he committed suicide in Ketchum, Idaho. Having a complex and emotional life and married four times, he is a representative of the Lost Generation writers and shows confusion and hesitation to life, the world and the society in his works.
Hemingway has many awards in his life. He is awarded the silver medal for bravery during World War I. In 1953, he wins the Pulitzer Prize in the favor of The Old Man and the Sea. In 1954, The Old Man and the Sea brings Hemingway the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 2001, two of his works, The Sun Also Rises and A Farewell to Arms are included in the American Modern Library 20th Century 100 Best English Novels.
A lot of people do researches about Hemingway but most of internal researches focus on the theme of death and psychological analysis of Hemingway. In On Death Complex of Hemingway, Luo Mingzhou analyzes the death according to Hemingway’s lifelong experiences and representative works (Luo 43-46). Wu Jianghua also talks about it in his On Hemingway’s Death Awareness (Wu 7) while overseas researches focus on Hemingway’s literature works and letters like Ernest Hemingway’s Selected Letters: 1917一1961, published by Carlos Becker (Zou 23). 来!自~优尔论-文|网www.youerw.com
