With the rise of a new round of education, more and more people focus their attention on the education of children。 Faced with today’s increasingly competitive education situation, taking effective teaching methods and forms has already become a necessary assurance of a children’s victory in the starting line。 In children’s education, child literature has a profound effect on it, especially on the healthy development of children’s enlightenment。
Nowadays, child literature has been transformed the interactive communication between paper media and electronic media from traditional paper media communication。 Meanwhile, commercial culture model and mass communication mechanism basically control the production and circulation of child literature。 Child literature education is facing great challenges and difficulties nowadays。 This thesis intends to make a discussion on how Western child literature influences Chinese children education, and make an analysis on the reality of today’s children education。
1。2 Significance文献综述
First, in the provisions of the new curriculum standard, the tasks of English Curriculum in basic education stage not only include the improvement the students’ ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing, also include the development of student’s innovation spirit, imagination ability, thinking ability, memory ability and observation ability。 To meet the requirements of the new curriculum, it is necessary to focus on extracurricular reading in primary school。 With the help of Western child literature, children’s reading interest and ability can be improved。 It also can help students understand the differences between Chinese culture and Western culture, cultivate and train students’ innovative spirit, imagination, thinking ability and observation ability。
Second, English learning is a kind of language learning。 In order to improve the quality and efficiency of English education in primary schools, it is necessary to master the psychological characteristics of students’ language learning。 Pupils have a strong thirst for knowledge and curiosity。 They are full of passion for learning and have a strong ability to accept new things。 However, due to the restrictions of the conditions, children do not have many opportunities to practice。 Therefore, reading books is a good way to meet the psychological needs of new things。
Third, children’s reading psychological characteristics differ from adults’。 The former prefers to read materials with rich imagination, mild language and short sentences。 Western Child Literature’s shallow, childish, fantasy and funny features are consistent with children’s psychological characteristics of language learning。 It not only trains their English language ability and thinking ability, but also satisfies children’s reading interest and curiosity。

As a unique genre of literature, child literature, which includes fairy tales, novels, plays, has a significant effect on children as it brings them a marvelous, fantastic and spiritual world where they could enjoy themselves by sharing happiness and learning knowledge。 Child literature is general name of all kinds of literary works, which is specifically designed for children and is suitable for their reading。 In this thesis, child literature is defined by reference to Wang Quangen’s (2010) definition of child Literature, “in a board sense, child literature is a literary genre that adults create for children。 In a narrow sense, child literature, created for children under 18 years old, has the artistic features of the children’s aesthetic consciousness and psychological development, which benefits to children’s mental health。” Children under the age of 18 can be pided into three groups, here the author mainly talks about children from age 7 to 12。
