On the Contrastive Analysis of Animal Idioms in Chinese and English In Case of Dog

Abstract Language is the most important communication tool of human society。 Idioms, as set phrases or short sentences, are important part of the language and culture of a society。 Idioms are the product of human beings’ wisdom, as well as the essence of language, which reflect in the all languages, especially in English and Chinese。 Both in English and Chinese idioms, there are a lot of idioms referring to dog。 Some idioms are often hard to understand and even harder to use correctly。 The proper use of idioms in a language is often a mark of a person ’ s command of the language。 English and Chinese idioms carved with cultural characteristics account for a great part in learning idioms。 So, the author is going to study the differences of the figurative images in Chinese and English Animal Idioms about dog and analyze the cause for these differences。89162
