Chapter One Introduction
1。1 Background
In our country, with the rapid development of human science and technology, English has become an important tool for the international communication。 It is a very important elementary course that children must learn English in the primary school。 However, there are many problems in the English teaching。 Because of the disadvantages of China’s exam-oriented education, changing the education system is an urgent affair in our country。 In order to make every student get a good mark, teachers always use the traditional teaching methods。 They spend a lot of time explaining the knowledge。 Students have little time to interact with teachers。 This action comes out that students are forced to study and they don’t think about why they should study。 The enthusiasm of the students is not too high。 That is to say, they don’t really take part in the English teaching classroom。 That this phenomenon brings some problems in the current English teaching still isn’t solved。 These problems still exist in the current English teaching, such as: out-of-date teaching principles, single teaching method and exam-oriented teaching tendency。
1。2 Significance and purpose论文网
In face of the cruel reality, in July 2005, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the College English Course Requirements which aimed to reform the English teaching classroom。 The aim of this reformation is to change the current English teaching methods, pay more attention to the main positions of the students, and focus on the development of the abilities of the listening and speaking and the changes of the roles of the students and the teachers。
The teaching reform includes two aspects。 They are the reformation of the teaching of teachers and the learning of students。 So the success or failure of the English teaching reform directly depends on teachers and students。 Owing to this situation, these requirements are put forward to teachers and students。 Firstly, it is important for teachers to change the traditional teaching thoughts and teaching methods。 Secondly, for students, they also need to change their negative attitudes of learning。 The key points of this teaching reform are to change the wrong consciousness of learning and the wrong orientation of learning。 Teachers and students should start with themselves, and correct their attitudes of teaching and learning。 What’s more, it is necessary to change the roles of the teachers and the students。 Only in these ways, can it develop the English education in all-around way。

The roles of the teachers are known by everyone, but what are their meanings? There are still many doubts。 There are three kinds of knowledge about the roles of teachers。 Firstly, many scholars hold this view that the behavior of teachers is one of the characteristics of the roles of teachers, and it mainly refers to the behavior in the teaching situation。 Secondly, the roles of teachers are the social statuses of the teachers; thirdly, some scholars still believe that the roles of teachers refer to the social expectations to the teachers。
